The Denis House
Avon Marie Denis grew up in Central City and had been a renter for her entire life until her purchase of a home from Jericho Road in May 2007. Avon Marie is part of the first generation of her family to be a homeowner.
Avon Marie, a worker at Brown's Dairy, and Sylvia Morgan evacuated New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina and lived in Atlanta for a few months. After returning, neither could get their Pre-Katrina jobs back, but were soon able to find new ones.
Avon Marie and Sylvia have had to adjust to a changed New Orleans after the storm, but love the city and are glad to be back.
